Surface Pattern Design

'YveY'

“I make and liberate daily-drawings from their pages in my YveY design sketchbooks to craft them into new surface pattern designs and illustrations, ones that tell their own, unique story.

From their humble beginnings each or these patterns end up as works I share into the world, available for licensing purchase."

Countryside family trips

“Are we all in?”... the signature ‘last call’ made inside our heavily-loaded, family car, destined for a country picnic day to Malmsbury, Victoria, Australia. Today, this ‘last call' is definitely one of the favourite ‘sing-song’ memories I have of my parents, in their many attempts to patiently round up all seven of us kids. This is the first of the ‘Little Picnic’ series featuring the Valliant, colours and textures of being a little one on those family picnics with my sweet-mother and her faithful picnic basket and table cloth - the objects that provided our base from which to go play and explore the ‘all-seasons’ abundance of nature in the country. Our family picnic blanket

Featuring the Australian Wool Company logo back in my childhood, the high quality thick woollen blanket we used for every outdoor event, is etch in my memory as the centre piece for nurturing outdoor fun. This the second of my ‘Little Picnic’ series features the scene as set by the family picnic blanket. As little ones we remember those textured surface that nourished us most, such as the dense woollen blanket kept for out door use with our family picnics. Whilst we explored, the blanket held the family together, as the square to return to and ‘find mum’. The weave and neutral grey black palette still endure. YM

Mum’s lilac & white basket

Never anywhere with out the picnic Basket, my mum would fill it to overflowing with her delicious home baking, fresh fruit, sandwiches, cordial and tea. Theres was always more than enough for everyone, a feat to this day I still marvel at and wonder ‘how’? This is the third of my ‘Little Picnic’ series, the one that showcases the basket and it’s abundant picnic feast. Warm chocolate cake, scones, jam and cream, hot tea in a thermos and mineral water cordials featured in our family picnics. After exploring there would be time on the blanket with mum. These memories of nurture still fill my heart, and make me want to replicate the full sensory delight with my loved ones today. YM

Children & flowers

When children are encouraged to participate in the garden’s they visit, it can becomes a place that starts a life long passion for all manner of things nature is growing. These images explore that participation in the cut flower garden - a garden specifically made for being brought with us or inside. YM

The Summer flowers grown at home outside the Studio have been a deliberated development in Yvonne's work. Growing, tending, enjoying then picking, these blooms for her drawing, painting and digitial art work makes the investment in having a cut flower garden all the more inspirational. YM
